Taking advantage of Japan’s economic struggles, Sri Lanka has acquired the branding rights for Japan’s country slogan. A spokesman for the ministry of external affairs said, “Sri Lanka has had an excellent recent history of presidential sons rising from obscurity to prominence – so Sri Lanka truly is the land of the rising son. In fact one rose so high he became an astronaut.”
When asked why the progeny of Pres Sirisena was part of the Lankan delegation for the UNGA, the spokesman said, “Sirisena jr is managing POTDSROSL social media campaign in the US. Without him you’ll won’t get to see candid pictures and cute tweets with smileys.”
Reporters went on to ask what qualifications the presidential son had for this role. “Well we found that Sirisena jr has an extensive social media presence and tremendous public engagement. He hasn’t quite mastered the art of the selfie like the ex-pres’ kids, but he’ll get there.”
When asked whether it was more prudent to have professionals handling the president’s social media engagement like other important issues of national interest, the spokesman burst out laughing and was subsequently taken ill.
